Statement Issued by ISAIAH Regarding Jewish Community Center Bomb Threats
ST. PAUL, Minn. Jan. 19, 2017 — ISAIAH expresses deep and sincere concern for our Jewish brothers and sisters nationwide, and, in particular, our neighbors of Sabes Jewish Community Center. Threatening the security, safety and well-being of Jewish families in a sacred space is a direct violation of human dignity, our faith values and our values as a nation. The current sociopolitical climate empowers and emboldens hateful acts, and all people of good conscience must stand against these acts of hate in order to protect our neighbors and communities’ humanity, as well as to defend the foundations of our Constitution and democratic values.
The fact that these threats have been made to over 30 JCCs this month is a disturbing trend. ISAIAH recognizes that a threat to one of us is a threat to all of us and we stand with our brothers and sisters in these dangerous times. We offer them our love and support as we emphatically declare that anti-Semitic rhetoric and acts will not be tolerated and as a country we must make the choice, today and every day, to choose life and love in the face of hate and fear.
