This executive order is creating moral, political and human chaos and should be rescinded. Our faith communities are ready to respond morally, politically and practically. That means standing against this order and with refugees and Muslims in our country. This ban does not make our country safer.

We are guided by our faith to love God and love our neighbors – the two cannot be separated. We fiercely condemn any attempt to block people seeking refuge from entering the country. More than 65 million people are currently displaced from their home – fleeing persecution and horrific violence. This executive order stands in direct opposition of what it means to be an American and what it means to be a convicted person of faith.

Yesterday we launched 180 congregations and faith communities across the state in a campaign to proclaim our commitment to our democratic and our moral values. Congregations ready to fight for and to protect all of our brothers and sisters facing a grave assault on their lives. We stand with every person ready to fight for our civil rights, liberties, and the Constitution.

Today, ISAIAH’s Executive Director Doran Schrantz joined Senators Klobuchar and Franken at a press conference to reject the #MuslimBan and support the courageous work of advocates, attorneys, public officials,  protestors, and civil servants.

And each and every day we will continue to fight for our civil rights and the protection of all.
