After Walking for Nearly a Week, Pilgrims for Citizenship find that Rep. Paulsen Chooses to Ignore Constituents


“The Fate of Our Families is in Rep. Paulsen’s Hands,” Say Faith Leaders.

On Friday, November 8th, 75 clergy, faith leaders and immigrant families ended a six-day pilgrimage with a Mass and prayer vigil outside Rep. Erik Paulsen’s office. The pilgrims walked 36 miles in solidarity with 11 million aspiring Americans to call on Rep. Paulsen to publicly support immigration reform that includes a pathway to citizenship.

On Saturday, August 24, more than 400 ISAIAH clergy and members from the Twin Cities faith communities rallied in Chaska for comprehensive immigration reform and called on Minnesota Congressman Erik Paulsen to publically support a direct, inclusive and affordable roadmap to citizenship for 11 million aspiring Americans.

More than 400 clergy and lay congregational leaders braved 90+ temperatures August 24 to rally in the Guardian Angels Parish School gymnasium in Chaska, Minnesota, in support of comprehensive immigration reform and a path to citizenship for immigrants. Minneapolis Area Synod (ELCA) Bishop Ann Svennungsen and Auxiliary Bishop Lee Piché of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis were among civic and religious leaders extolling participants to pray for resolution of the federal legislative impasse and to share their message with Rep. Erik Paulsen (Minn.-3), who represents Chaska and most of the southwestern suburbs of the Twin Cities.
