Religious Leaders In Solidarity Against Proposed Photo ID Amendment

Religious Leaders In Solidarity Against Proposed Photo ID Amendment

Religious leaders of various faiths held a press conference on Feb. 7, 2012, at the Minnesota State Capitol voicing their opposition to the proposed constitutional amendment requiring a photo ID for the purpose of voting, thereby placing barriers in front of law-abiding citizens’ constitutional right to vote. Following the press conference, they delivered a letter opposing the amendment to House and Senate leadership and co-sponsors of the bill.

Rev. Grant Stevensen, President of ISAIAH, opens faith leaders’ press conference calling on State Legislators to stop photo ID legislation.

The letter has been signed by hundreds of interfaith leaders throughout Minnesota. This event was organized by ISAIAH, Jewish Community Action, the Stairstep Initiative, His Works United, the Minnesota Baptist Convention and Somali Action Alliance.
